FirstService Residential is Hiring a Fitness Center Manager Near Gettysburg, PA

Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Lifestyle Director, the Fitness & Wellness Manager's responsibilities will focus on overall development, coordination, and implementation of the fitness/aquatics programs and facilities for the Community. This position will oversee all aquatics and land fitness, dance programs, personal training, wellness and massage services. This position is also responsible for the development of an overall diversified fitness and wellness program that fits the community population in support of a healthy, active adult lifestyle. This position provides a key leadership role for the community and sets the direction for related business, considering fitness and wellness industry trends, while staying within industry benchmarks for the cost of doing business.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Working with Community Association Manager and Lifestyle Director, to develop the Fitness & Wellness Department annual budget.
  • To achieve financial objectives by preparing as requested a detailed monthly, quarterly and annual budget summary and capital improvements schedule and budget. The scheduling of monthly expenditures; analyzing variances and initiating corrective action.
  • To review and approve the accuracy and completeness of all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, as directed by the Lifestyle Director.
  • To closely monitor the cash flow and determine program costs using industry standards while considering community-wide discounts and what the market will bear.
  • When requested, determine the actual budget requirements for the purchase of additional capital expenditures, determine suppliers, and conduct the bidding process, by following established guidelines for qualifying vendors.
  • Delegate as approved, key responsibilities of fitness and wellness operations to independent fitness contractors/ coordinators, health care partners, and/or staff within the Fitness & Wellness Department.
  • Maintains staff by assisting and/ or overseeing in the recruitment, selection, orientation and training of Fitness & Wellness Department Associates and Independent Contractors.
  • As approved, supervise all Associates and Independent Contractors in the fitness and wellness department.
  • Maintain staffing results by overseeing the counseling and disciplining of Associates and Independent Contractors.
  • Overall responsibility for all aquatic facilities, exercise equipment areas, aerobic/dance studio(s), wellness studio(s), sports courts, and locker rooms. Monitor and report facility conditions to Community Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Plan departmental goals for the organization and monitor progress, appraising job performance of all staff and Independent Contractors.
  • Develop policies and procedures for groups and individuals.
  • Develop and implement all fitness and wellness programs for use in the Community.
  • Assists Lifestyle Director in coordination and development of appropriate fitness and wellness special events.
  • Assists Community Association Manager and Lifestyle Director with review, oversight, and implementation of all contracted fitness and wellness services.
  • Assists in the development of leases and contracts pertaining to the Fitness & Wellness facilities and space.
  • Respond to and answer community concerns in a timely, professional manner.
  • Maintain all technology platforms used for fitness and wellness operation and scheduling.
  • Processes transactions, transfers, and/or refunds as appropriate, following all Association accounting policies.
  • Coordinates comprehensive aquatic and land fitness schedules – including independent contractors.
  • Maintains and assists in the development of Fitness & Wellness Department pages on the community website.
  • Develops Lifestyle Newsletter articles for Fitness & Wellness Department in conjunction with Lifestyle Director.
  • Participates in Association and Fitness & Wellness Department meetings, as requested.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Hospitality or Education or equivalent work experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to implement and oversee procedures for proper use of exercise equipment, aerobic conditioning, strength training & flexibility, and behavioral protocols for residents and guests to follow.
  • Ability to work in community-wide presentations on fitness and health-related topics of general interest, using local experts and consultants where applicable.
  • Available and on-call to cover staffing emergencies as required.
  • Ability to lift 20 – 35 lbs
  • Work in an upright standing position for long periods of time
  • Walk and climb stairs
  • Handle, finger, grasp and feel objects and equipment
  • Ability to detect auditory and/or visual emergency alarms
  • Communicate, receive and exchange ideas and information by means of the spoken and written word
  • Ability to quickly and easily navigate the property/building as required to meet the job functions
  • On occasion may require evening, weekend and/or holiday hours to oversee fitness and wellness center operations, programs, and/or special events.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies in a timely manner.
  • Complete all required forms.
What We Offer As a full-time exempt associate, you will be eligible for full comprehensive benefits to include your choice of multiple medical plans, dental, vision, and others. In addition, you will be eligible for time off benefits, paid holidays and a 401k with company match. Occasional travel may be required to attend training and other company functions.
Compensation:
$50,000.00 - $55,000.00 annually
